Best Friends at Burgh Castle

10th April 2017

Fittingly I recently started my 2017 location portraits at the ever popular Burgh Castle ruins. It was great to get back outdoors with the camera again, especially at this fabulous location, and with a family shoot too.

Whilst every family photo session is a special event, this one had an extra special member of the party, making one of his first public appearances. A puppy named Hunter, ably looked after by his best friend, Maci.

Both Hunter and Maci were superb in front of the camera, no worries here about working with children and animals here! The great outdoors is a calming influence for children (and their four legged friends). There's always plenty of space to run around and let off steam, if needed, before having some shots taken. It's one the main reasons families choose location portraits over a studio session.

As usual with my family sessions, it's very relaxed. I don't work to a schedule, preferring to see what happens at the time. Of course, I do have in mind who needs to be in the photos, and with who, but I like to choose the right area for each shot as we move around the site.
