A Difficult Decision
After a lot of thought I have made the difficult decision to close my photography business Martin J Patterson Photography Ltd.
Running a business on top of my full time job, my family and my other commitments is just one too many plates to keep spinning. In the recent months the admin, social media requirements and everything else that goes with running a company has become very difficult, and has diminished the enjoyment of something I have loved doing for the past 9 years. The limited amount of time I have to spend on the business means I cannot serve my customers properly. I feel that if you do something it should be all in or not at all.
Thank You
I would like to thank all the customers over the past 9 years that have trusted me to capture photos of themselves and their beautiful families. It has been a privilege to work with you all. I have made some good friends through my photography work, and received some fantastic support too. It’s not an easy thing to share your art with others, you do open yourself up to scrutiny, but I have only ever received positive comments about my work, which helped me personally and photographically and a lot more than people realise. So thank you to all of you that have taken the time to follow me and my work online, your support is greatly appreciated.
What You Need To Know
Shoots and Bookings
Officially the company will cease at the end of March 2020, but will have to be preceded by a three month period on non-trading. In practical terms this means I will not be carrying out any more photo shoots or taking on any further bookings as the limited company.
Mobile Gallery Apps
Anyone that has their photos on a mobile gallery app will see this disappear by the end of 2019. If you would like a copy of those images please contact me via the website contact page, and I will organise a ZIP file download for you.
Questions or Concerns
If you are a past customer and have any questions or concerns about images, files etc. please contact me and will get back to you to help.
Going forward
The camera won’t be discarded. I love photography, and all the possibilities it brings, so there is no chance of me stopping. By making this move with the business it will allow me to spend my ‘photography time’ creating instead of administrating. I hope to explore some different genres of photography, but will be coming back to portrait work for sure. The difference will be that the shoots will be for fun, so budding models stay posted!
My Facebook pages and Instagram accounts will remain open, but will revert back to my new hobbyist status. I do intend to post any new work on these platforms, so please stay around to see what I am up to.
Should my personal circumstances change in the coming years, I may return to business again, but we’ll wait to see how things pan out. Until then it’s not goodbye, I prefer Au Revoir
Take care and best wishes,
Martin :)
