Father and Son - July 2014

I know...A news post about a shoot!! I am very aware that it's been a while, but you know how it is..busy...no time...yadda yadda! I am going to be back onto these posts more regularly now as my method of choice for sharing what I've been up to. All part of a few changes I'll be making over the next couple of months, but more on that later.

All smiles despite a photographer looming over them....
Any way, enough waffle. The latest shoot. Another first, even after three years I still get them. A father and son shoot at Gorleston Beach, just last week, which ironically was the greyest day we've had for a while following a weeks worth of heat and sun, but I was more than happy with that. Nicely diffused light, just right!

One of my favourites. I don't think you can beat a 'non-smiling' portrait.
The subjects in question had come all the way from Nottinghamshire for this shoot, so it's just as well the grey didn't turn to rain, although I suspect they'd bought the clouds with them...!

Up, Up and Away! (He did come down though. And safely too!)
I really enjoy all my location shoots, but this one was just superb. The beach was very quiet, so no photobombing dogs or fluorescent clad walkers to avoid, the only noise was the laughs really. It's so important to make the atmosphere light, friendly and relaxed, as it comes out in the final images. I had no concerns with unrelaxed subjects in this shoot, both dad and son joined in, although one was a touch more active than the other! The other aspect was the photography itself. I'm always learning, but I think my recent shoots have clicked onto the next level for me. I've tried out a few different techniques recently which are now paying dividends. Couldn't be happier!
Comments are welcome.

After all that jumping around they deserved a rest.
