Why Invest In A Freelance Photographer?

Not all photographers operate in a franchised chain studio, or one where there is a big team of photographers, assistants and admins, where the approach to photography is a one-style fits all, cookie cutter one of standard lighting and preset editing styles across the range of their studios. These large photography studios aren’t your only choice when it comes to places to capture your portrait images. There are a large number of freelance, self-employed photographers to invest in as well. Ones that operate in both studio and location settings, and there is sure to be one to fit your needs.
Why invest in a freelance photographer? Here are 5 reasons that may answer that question…

1. UNIQUE STYLE AND APPROACH
Every independent photographer will have their own way of looking at things, their own methods, their signature image style and looks. You can often tell who has taken a set of photos without seeing any credits.

2. YOUR IMAGES WILL BE MORE THAN JUST A PHOTOGRAPH
Each set of images will be processed and edited to suit the client, not a standard preset like everyone else’s, they will be treated with love and care. The artistic side is important to many independent photographers, and without the constraints of a set franchised photographic recipe, they will have the freedom to spend time making your images special to you.

3. YOU'LL FEEL MORE LIKE A FRIEND
The freelance photographer will often be the only person you deal with throughout your photo experience, definitely a 1 to 1 experience. It’s during this process that the client relationship is built, one which helps no end in the photographer being able to understand the personalities involved in the shoot, and for them to bring them out in the final images.

4. SESSIONS ARE UNIQUE AND PERSONALISED
With no pre-determined shot list, the photo session can be tailored to fit your needs as a client. Where to have the shoot, who is in which image and what compositions you want, what kind of feel you want from the images. A freelance photographer will often be more than happy to try out your ideas too.

Freelancers are a single person operation, meaning you can develop a great relationship, helping personalise your images.

5. THEY SPECIALISE IN A GENRE
Not all photography is the same, and each genre has its own skill set or artistic requirements. Family, children, wedding, or boudoir, each is subtly different. If a freelance specialises in one or two genres they will often have a vast experience in capturing those styles of images. With experience comes the fact that they will have probably faced every situation a photo session can put to them, and know how to deal with it.

In summary, a freelance photographer may not have the big fancy studio, but they will have you and your needs at heart, and do it a way that is personal, friendly, artistically expressive, and most importantly, unique to you.
